Rs 300 Crore Road Engineering Plan Approved to Decongest Chhijarsi, Sector 62 Roundabout and Major Bottlenecks

Daily commuters traveling between Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Noida will soon experience significant relief from persistent traffic gridlocks. The Noida Authority has officially approved a comprehensive road engineering overhaul worth Rs 300 crore aimed at eradicating chronic traffic bottlenecks across critical congestion points, including the Sector-62 roundabout, Sector-63 Chhijarsi, DND Flyway, Kalindi Kunj, and the Film City entry stretch.
Tackling Chronic Traffic Chokepoints Across the City
For years, motorists navigating key intersections such as the underpasses around Sectors 51, 52, 71, and 72, as well as the Hajipur red light in Sector-104 and Rashtriya Dalit Prerna Sthal in Sector-95, have faced severe daily delays. Beyond causing massive commuter inconvenience, these vehicle queues have significantly escalated urban pollution levels. To address the root cause, the administration is completely redesigning roads, walkways, slip roads, and U-turns, while incorporating mechanical sweeping to boost local cleanliness under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP), which also targets reductions in particulate matter like PM 10 and PM 2.5.
Key Structural Changes at Chhijarsi and Sector 62
The mega-infrastructure blueprint outlines specific infrastructural modifications across high-density zones:
Chhijarsi & Sector 62: The footpath width along both sides of the FNG road at Sector-63 Chhijarsi will be reduced by 650 meters to carve out an additional traffic lane. Local auto and tempo stands will be relocated to designated vacant spaces near police outposts. Furthermore, the diameter of the Sector-62 roundabout will be trimmed by two meters, and the connecting road toward Mamura will be widened alongside a newly constructed service road.
High-Tech Skywalks and Foot Overbridges: A modern high-tech skywalk—equipped with facilities for senior citizens and persons with disabilities—will be constructed from the Electronic City Metro Station in Sector-63, safely spanning across NH-9 and the Delhi-Meerut Expressway (DME). Similar pedestrian structures are planned to clear bottlenecks above the Sector 51-72 underpasses, alongside a new foot overbridge at the Hajipur red light.
Widening Entry Points at DND, Kalindi Kunj, and Film City
To streamline regional connectivity, perimeter entry and exit loops at the DND Flyway will be expanded, while the road width toward Mahamaya from Kalindi Kunj will be increased to absorb heavier vehicle volumes. Near Film City, footpath dimensions will be optimized to introduce an extra road lane, and tree lines near the National Dalit Inspiration Site in Sector-95 will be strategically shifted to widen the thoroughfare. Finally, all city U-turns are slated for reconstruction in strict compliance with NHAI standards to ensure smooth, uninterrupted vehicular flow.
