The Uttar Pradesh government's flagship welfare initiative granting free roadways bus transit to senior women aged 60 and above has witnessed an overwhelming public response across the Etawah transport region. Within just 15 days of its rollout from August 30 through September 13, a total of 15,480 elderly female passengers availed themselves of zero-cost travel across the region's eight operational bus depots. The total value of bus tickets waived during this initial fortnight stands at an impressive ₹33,76,800, demonstrating that an average of over 1,000 senior women are utilizing state-run transit services without paying a single rupee every single day.

Auraiya and Bewar Lead Passenger Influx as Simple Identity Verification Unlocks Zero-Fare Slips

Operational data collated from regional terminals indicates wide geographic uptake across central Uttar Pradesh corridors. Auraiya depot recorded the highest regional turnout with 3,036 senior beneficiaries, followed closely by Bewar-Chhibramau depot with 2,896 commuters, Farrukhabad depot with 2,866, Etawah central depot registering 2,561, Shikohabad at 1,859, Mainpuri with 1,760, and Saifai recording 502 travelers. Etawah Regional Transport Manager Kapil Dev clarified that the boarding protocol has been kept entirely seamless for elderly passengers: eligible female citizens aged 60 and above simply present their government-issued identity card directly to the bus conductor to verify their date of birth, after which the ticketing machine instantly issues an official zero-fare travel slip for the entire journey.
