Om Prakash Rajbhar : Turns Dharmendra Pradhan's Resignation into Kurmi vs. Yadav Narrative
The political landscape of Uttar Pradesh has heated up significantly following the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, which came on the heels of massive nationwide protests by youth and student organizations over NEET and competitive exam paper leaks. While opposition parties like the Samajwadi Party and Congress aggressively pursued his exit, the narrative has now taken a sharp caste-oriented turn. Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) chief and state minister Om Prakash Rajbhar has stepped into the center stage, actively attempting to frame the high-profile resignation as a Kurmi versus Yadav political conflict in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh.
Rajbhar Poses Direct Challenge to Akhilesh Yadav on Social Media
Taking to the social media platform X, Om Prakash Rajbhar launched a direct attack on Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, questioning his motives and political stance regarding the ousted minister. Rajbhar openly asked whether the SP leadership would have adopted the exact same aggressive approach and demanded resignation if Dharmendra Pradhan belonged to the Yadav community instead of the Kurmi caste. Highlighting the political sensitivity of the Kurmi voter base—which played a crucial role in helping the Samajwadi Party secure significant victories in the recent Lok Sabha elections—Rajbhar accused the opposition of trying to alienate and fracture the Kurmi community ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in 2027.
Accusations of Double Standards and Opposition's PDA Strategy
Pushing the confrontation further through consecutive social media posts, Rajbhar questioned why the Samajwadi Party leadership has consistently overlooked icons of backward classes, pointing out past instances where prominent social justice figures were allegedly ignored. He challenged Akhilesh Yadav's commitment to the 'PDA' (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) formula, alleging that the opposition selectively targets leaders from specific communities while ignoring others. Rajbhar claimed that the Kurmi community values education, merit, and lawful progress rather than disruptive politics, and demanded a transparent response from the SP chief to clear his stance before the entire state community.
