The Meerut Range Police have enforced rigorous security arrangements to ensure a safe and peaceful celebration during the festival of Rakshabandhan. Under the directives of Meerut Range DIG Kalanidhi Naithani, police units across all districts have been placed on high alert, focusing heavily on crowded markets, commercial hubs, and public spaces where festive footfall peaks.
Intensive Patrolling and Plainclothes Deployment
With large numbers of shoppers visiting markets late into the evening during the festival, authorities have ordered continuous patrolling and thorough security checks. To deter criminal elements and prevent incidents such as molestation, chain snatching, and theft, 11 specialized anti-Romeo squads have been activated. Furthermore, female police officers in plain clothes have been strategically deployed at sensitive zones, including local markets, bus stands, and railway stations, to ensure the safety and dignity of women citizens.
Traffic Management and Fairgrounds Security
Festive celebrations often bring massive vehicular movement and congestion. To address this, local traffic police have formulated detailed diversion and management plans, particularly around major fairgrounds and high-density routes. Authorities are coordinating closely with roadways officials, bus associations, and taxi unions to guarantee adequate public transport availability. Additionally, UP-112 police response vehicles (PRVs)—both two-wheelers and four-wheelers—are positioned at critical intersections for rapid response.
Cyber Monitoring and Rumor Control
In addition to ground-level policing, the district intelligence system, control rooms, and social media monitoring cells have been put on round-the-clock alert. Station house officers have been instructed to maintain personal vigilance and act swiftly on any local inputs. Police have issued a strict warning that any individual attempting to disturb communal harmony or spread misinformation and rumors across digital platforms will face immediate, uncompromising legal action.
