The political war of words surrounding the nationwide rollout of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) has intensified dramatically following Union Home Minister Amit Shah's announcement outlining its implementation across NDA-governed states ahead of the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. Reacting fiercely to AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s allegations that the common code is an orchestrated conspiracy to dismantle India's cultural diversity, former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Sangeet Som delivered a stinging counterattack in Lucknow, asserting that anyone residing within India's borders must respect and abide by the law of the land. Som characterized the proposed legislation as a transformative instrument designed specifically to secure gender justice, constitutional equality, and foundational civil protections for women across all religious communities, accusing leaders like Owaisi of running fundamentalist, regressive campaigns that actively obstruct socio-legal equality.

Taking direct aim at Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav over his claim that the civil code amounts to an "underground communal conspiracy," the senior BJP leader brushed off the comment by arguing that the SP leadership remains disconnected from ground realities, spending its political capital playing games on social media platforms like X rather than engaging in productive public welfare. Som emphasized that the demand for a uniform civil architecture has persisted for over four decades to safeguard social balance and fulfill the foundational directives laid down in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's Constitution, adding that without nationwide standard laws, social imbalances will deliberately be exploited by opposition figures like Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav. Reiterating the central leadership's determination, Som asserted that regardless of the unified resistance mounted by opposition blocs, the NDA administration will meet its declared objective of enforcing the Uniform Civil Code across all 21 NDA-administered states before 2029.
