The historical campus of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth in Varanasi recently played host to its much-anticipated annual convocation ceremony, graced by Uttar Pradesh Governor and Chancellor Anandiben Patel as the chief guest. Marking a momentous milestone for the 105-year-old institution founded under the inspirational vision of Mahatma Gandhi, the event spotlighted the vital role that higher education institutions play in materializing the national resolve of a 'Developed India - 2047'. Amidst an atmosphere of academic celebration, university leadership presented a comprehensive report detailing a decade of remarkable advancements spanning modern curricula, digital transformation, infrastructural expansion, and exceptional sports achievements.
Embracing Innovation: New Courses, AI Integration, and Digital Portals
Delivering the institutional report, the Vice Chancellor highlighted how Kashi Vidyapeeth has aggressively modernized its academic framework to align with contemporary global standards. Over recent years, the university has introduced forward-looking programs such as an MA in Hindu Studies, alongside specialized applied AI and research development modules through its dedicated Research Development Institute. Furthermore, administrative transparency and student service delivery have been revolutionized through the successful rollout of comprehensive digital portals governing admissions, examinations, and day-to-day operations. As part of its commitment to green initiatives, the campus has also installed an eco-friendly sewage treatment plant (STP), reinforcing sustainable development goals.
Infrastructure Growth, PM-USHA Labs, and National Rankings
Infrastructural development took center stage as the university showcased major expansions, including the enlargement of the Faculty of Law building, structural upgrades at the Gangapur campus, and the establishment of state-of-the-art computer labs across multiple departments under the PM-USHA scheme. Dedicated computing hubs have been meticulously designed for undergraduate, postgraduate, and B.Ed. students across both the main campus and regional centers like NTPC and Gangapur. Bolstered by the prestigious Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Center—the only one of its kind established in any Uttar Pradesh state university—Kashi Vidyapeeth continues to conduct high-caliber national and international training programs. Reflecting these sweeping academic and developmental strides, the institution has climbed higher in national rankings such as India Today and IIRF, while proudly clinching the eighth spot nationally and the top position in Uttar Pradesh for its stellar achievements in sports and athletic excellence.
