Gorakshpeeth celebrates the Prakatya Utsav of Gopal with devotion and grandeur
Gorakhpur, September 4.The sacred festival of Shri Krishna Janmashtami, celebrating the divine appearance of Lord Shri Krishna, the eternal embodiment of devotion, love and Dharma, was observed with traditional rituals, grandeur and enthusiasm at Gorakhnath Temple, the spiritual seat of Shivavatar Mahayogi Gorakhnath. To lead the traditional celebrations of Gorakshpeeth, Gorakshpeethadhishwar and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath arrived in Gorakhpur from Lucknow on Friday night.
On the auspicious occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami, Gorakshpeethadhishwar and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath remained immersed in the worship of Yogeshwar Shri Krishna, revered as the Lord of all Yogis, from Friday morning until midnight, travelling spiritually from Mathura to Lucknow and Gorakhpur.
In the morning, he performed rituals and offered prayers to Lord Krishna at the Janmabhoomi Temple in Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna, and prayed for the happiness and well-being of the people of the state. In the evening, he attended the Shri Krishna Janmashtami celebration at the Lucknow Police Lines and later reached Gorakhnath Temple at night, where he completed the traditional Prakatya Anushthan marking the divine appearance of Lord Krishna.
Upon reaching Gorakhnath Temple, the Chief Minister first offered prayers to Shivavatar Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath. He then paid his respects at the samadhi of his revered Guru, Brahmalin Mahant Avaidyanath, offered flowers and sought his blessings. On the auspicious occasion of Shri Krishna Janmotsav, a Bhajan Sandhya was organised at the Mahant Digvijaynath Smriti Bhawan auditorium.
The Chief Minister attended the programme, listened to devotional bhajans and lovingly interacted with children dressed as Radha and Krishna, presenting them with gifts.
At midnight, Gorakshpeethadhishwar performed special rituals and offered prayers at the sanctum sanctorum of Gorakhnath Temple on the occasion of Shri Krishna Janmotsav. At 12 midnight, following the divine appearance of Lord Shri Krishna, amid the auspicious chants of “Nand Ghar Anand Bhayo, Jai Kanhaiyalal Ki” and “Shri Krishna Govind Hare Murari, Hey Nath Narayan Vasudev”, devotional Sohar songs and the resonant sound of bells and temple gongs, Gorakshpeethadhishwar emerged from the sanctum carrying the divine child in his arms. CM Yogi seated Lord Shri Hari in his child form, Laddu Gopal, in a flower-adorned cradle, lovingly rocked him and performed the aarti. After completion of the Prakatya Anushthan, fruits and Prasad were distributed among devotees by the temple authorities.
Shri Krishna Janmotsav is traditionally celebrated with great fervour at Gorakhnath Temple. On this occasion, the Bhajan Sandhya at the Mahant Digvijaynath Smriti Bhawan auditorium continued from the evening under the coordination of renowned folk singer Dr. Rakesh Srivastava. Meanwhile, the main religious ritual for Shri Krishna Janmashtami commenced at around 11:30 pm in the temple sanctum and concluded immediately after Lord Krishna's birth at midnight with auspicious songs and distribution of Prasad.
Basic Education Minister of State (Independent Charge) Sandeep Singh, Mayor Dr. Manglesh Srivastava, BJP State Vice President and MLC Dr. Dharmendra Singh, MLA Fateh Bahadur Singh, several saints and a large number of devotees were present. The temple premises remained packed with devotees until midnight.
During the Shri Krishna Janmotsav celebrations, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath showered affection on children dressed as Radha and Krishna for the Shri Krishna Roop Sajja competition amid bhajan and kirtan at the Mahant Digvijaynath Smriti Bhawan auditorium. He interacted with the children with warmth and presented them with toys and chocolates.
He also took several young children in his arms, spending considerable time playing with and showering affection on them. Some children recited couplets and shlokas for CM Yogi, while others took selfies with him. The Chief Minister happily fulfilled the requests of all the children.
On the occasion of Lord Krishna's birth celebration, children dressed as Krishna and Radha for the Shri Krishna Bal Roop Sajja competition at the Brahmalin Mahant Digvijaynath Smriti Bhawan auditorium of Gorakhnath Temple won everyone's hearts. Some children appeared as Shri Krishna while others came dressed as Radha. Their costumes and appearances transformed the auditorium into a glimpse of Gokul. The competition was held in two categories, with all participating children adding to the attraction of the programme.
In the Kanha category of the Bal Roop Sajja competition, Sharvil Pandey won the first prize, Saumya Prajapati the second prize and Himanshi Srivastava the third prize. In the Gopal category, Sarthak won the first prize, Rajveer the second and Rudra the third prize.
The Chief Minister presented certificates and gifts to the winners of the Shri Krishna Roop Sajja competition. Sarika Rai, Manisha Singh and Hridaya Tripathi served as judges, while Shivendra Pandey conducted the programme.
At the Bhajan Sandhya organised at Digvijaynath Smriti Bhawan on Shri Krishna Janmashtami under the coordination of Dr. Rakesh Srivastava, the auditorium resonated with devotion to Kanha-Shyam. The programme began with a melodious devotional song by Puneet Srivastava. This was followed by melodious Sohar performances by Hridaya Tripathi and Anita Singh, while Lakshmi Gupta presented a traditional congratulatory song.
Singers Umesh Mishra and Ekta Shukla enthralled the audience with Krishna bhajans. Dr. Rakesh Srivastava further filled the atmosphere with joy through traditional congratulatory songs and Sohar. Shyamsundar Lal Srivastava Hanslona, Deepak, Abhas Pathak and Sudhakar Sinha provided instrumental accompaniment.
On the auspicious occasion of Shri Krishna Janmotsav, Hanumat Sangeet Ashram and Seva Sansthan organised a Bhajan Sandhya at the sanctum sanctorum of Gorakhnath Temple from 8 pm to midnight. Before the birth celebration, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also listened to the devotional songs being performed at the sanctum.
The programme began with bhajans by singer and musician Abhishek Pandey Bittu. Thereafter, Siddhi Singh, Nishant Shukla, Shreyansh Tejasvi, Om Singh, Hridayansh Srivastava, Apoorva Naman, Akanksha Tripathi, Preeti Agrahari and Alka Jaiswal enthralled the audience with their performances.
The programme was coordinated by Dharmendra Kumar Srivastava, with Abhishek Pandey Bittu serving as music director. Ajit Raj, Shailesh Dubey and Rudraksh Shukla provided instrumental accompaniment.
