Farmers to Get ₹2,900/Quintal MSP Until December 31
In a major economic boost for the agrarian belt of western Uttar Pradesh, the district administration of Kasganj has operationalized 14 dedicated procurement centers to purchase millet (bajra) directly from local farmers at the government-approved Minimum Support Price (MSP). Commencing operations on October 1, 2026, the official grain purchase drive will run through December 31, 2026, ensuring that cultivators across the region receive the guaranteed remunerative rate of ₹2,900 per quintal. Spanning over 30,000 hectares of active millet cultivation across the district, the initiative is designed to prevent distress selling to private middlemen, offering seamless logistics and fair price realization for Kharif harvests at authorized state mandis.
Guaranteed Returns of ₹2,900 Per Quintal: Safeguarding Incomes Across 30,000 Hectares
The district administration has put in place measures to guarantee that cultivators benefit from government price support schemes:
Extensive Regional Acreage: Millet serves as one of the primary Kharif crops in Kasganj, cultivated extensively across an estimated 30,000 hectares of farmland during the current cropping cycle.
Direct Government Purchase at Support Price: Under the state government's mandate, every registered farmer bringing clean and verified grain to the 14 centers receives the fixed MSP rate of ₹2,900 per quintal directly credited to their bank accounts.
Elimination of Middlemen: By offering structured weighing stations, standard moisture meters, and direct digital accounting at designated Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) yards, the administration shields smallholders from volatile open-market price drops.
Procurement Window Open Till December 31: Multi-Crop Facilities Active Across Kasganj
To streamline the intake of autumn harvest yields, the state marketing apparatus has rolled out comprehensive purchasing counters:
Three-Month Purchase Cycle: The official procurement window spans a full three-month period from October 1 to December 31, 2026, giving farmers ample time for harvesting, threshing, drying, and transporting produce.
Parallel Kharif Operations: In addition to the 14 designated millet purchase centers, district authorities have also set up dedicated counters for the procurement of paddy (dhan) and Kharif maize (makka), ensuring multi-crop price security under a single administrative umbrella.
Smooth Logistics at APMCs: District Food and Marketing Officer (DFMO) Arun Kumar Tripathi confirmed that all infrastructural arrangements—including digital moisture testing equipment, weighing bridges, gunny bags, and shade areas—are operating smoothly across all 14 designated purchase locations.
Key Procurement Statistics: Tracking Targets and Real-Time Grain Inflow
The district food marketing division is monitoring grain inflows against seasonal production targets:
