CM Yogi Blasts Opposition in Gonda, Launches ₹520-Crore Projects Before Diwali

Post

In a fiery address at Singarghat in Tezpur, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a scathing attack on the Samajwadi Party on Monday, November 2, 2026, describing the party as a "curse" that wreaked havoc whenever it occupied office. The Chief Minister was in Gonda to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for 69 development projects valued at ₹520.84 crore across the Gaura and Mankapur assembly constituencies. Highlighting a stark contrast between past and present administrations, Adityanath asserted that while the BJP stands for public faith, industrial change, and uninterrupted development, opposition outfits like the Samajwadi Party and Congress have consistently patronized criminals and compromised social peace.

From Curfew and Riots to Uncompromised Security: Adityanath Rebukes Past SP Regimes

Urging the younger generation to look back at the governance record of previous regimes, the Chief Minister recalled how state-sponsored appeasement frequently disrupted major religious celebrations. He cited historical incidents where stone-pelting and riots during Durga Puja went unchecked and remembered that on November 2 in the past, firing was ordered on unarmed Ram devotees under the SP government. Contrastingly, he emphasized that under his administration, over 67,000 Durga idols were peacefully installed and four crore pilgrims completed the Kanwar Yatra without disruption, reiterating that any miscreant attempting to disturb communal harmony would face severe retribution spanning seven generations. He maintained that the state's strict anti-mafia stance has permanently eliminated extortion and unlawful land grabs across religious sites and impoverished settlements.

Infrastructure Transformation Across Devipatan: Moving Past the Saifai-Centric Model

Adityanath pointed out that previous governments restricted state resources and round-the-clock electricity to Saifai alone, while regions like Gonda, Balrampur, Bahraich, and Shravasti were neglected and ranked among the most backward and dirtiest nationwide in surveys like the 2016 Swachh Survekshan. Today, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's guidance, ₹16,000 crore has been sanctioned for Gonda and over ₹50,000 crore dedicated to the Devipatan division. The region now boasts functional medical colleges, wide highway corridors including the upgraded Balrampur-Gonda-Ayodhya highway, a regional university, and ₹3,000 crore in fresh industrial investments. Ahead of the grand 10th Deepotsav in Ayodhya Dham on November 7, Adityanath announced that the festive glow will be mirrored in Gonda with the rollout of one free cooking gas cylinder to eligible households before Diwali.

Over One Lakh New Recruitments and 20% Quota for Agniveers: Massive Employment Drive

Projecting Uttar Pradesh as one of India's top three state economies and the nation's primary growth engine, the Chief Minister dismissed claims of youth unemployment by outlining an ambitious hiring roadmap. He announced that more than one lakh government recruitments will be rolled out over the next six months, featuring appointments for 45,000 police constables, 4,500 sub-inspectors, 42,000 home guards, and thousands of basic school teachers. Reaffirming support for defense personnel, Adityanath confirmed a 20 percent reservation across state departments for returning Agniveers after their four-year military tenure. He also underscored direct gazetted appointments—such as Deputy SP ranks—for medal-winning athletes under the state's sports policy, ensuring local youth no longer need to migrate to distant metropolitan hubs for livelihood opportunities.
