CM Yogi Adityanath to Conduct Aerial Survey of Mandakini Floods in Chitrakoot, Will Distribute Relief Kits to Victims

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is set to visit Chitrakoot on Sunday to personally oversee relief and rehabilitation operations following the devastating floods caused by the Mandakini River. With floodwaters leaving a trail of destruction over the past twenty days, the Chief Minister will arrive at Chitrakoot Airport at noon to conduct a comprehensive aerial survey of the worst-hit villages, damaged roads, bridges, and submerged riverbanks. Following the inspection, he will head directly to the Ramayan Mela complex to distribute essential relief kits to affected families.

Extent of Devastation Across 36 Villages and Ramghat

The catastrophic flooding of the Mandakini River has severely impacted the region, leaving visible flood marks across 36 villages, including the iconic Ramghat area. Administrative records indicate that nearly 500 houses suffered structural damage during the prolonged inundation, with financial compensation already disbursed to the owners of 311 affected properties. The ferocious currents also wreaked havoc on vital local infrastructure, destroying connecting routes and bridges while dealing a heavy economic blow to riverside business owners whose shops and establishments were submerged.

Administrative Preparations and High-Level Security Review

Ahead of the high-profile gubernatorial visit, local authorities have ramped up security and logistical preparations across the district. District Magistrate Pulkit Garg and Superintendent of Police Arun Kumar Singh conducted rigorous inspections on Saturday morning at the Devangana Valley airport, Ramghat, and the Ramayan Mela venue. Sadar SDM Ajay Kumar confirmed that comprehensive security and crowd management protocols have been finalized. This ministerial visit follows a recent inspection by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, highlighting the inter-state gravity of the flood disaster affecting the sacred landscape of Chitrakoot.
