CM Yogi Adityanath Inaugurates UP Textiles Conclave-2026 With Rs 5,196 Crore Investment Proposals

Positioning Uttar Pradesh as an emerging economic superpower driven by youth talent and rich cultural heritage, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the two-day UP Textiles Conclave-2026 at Lucknow's Indira Gandhi Pratishthan. Declaring that "UP stands for Ultimate Potential," the Chief Minister emphasized that the state possesses unmatched human resources, entrepreneurial drive, and the largest domestic market in the country. Highlighting the state's strategic roadmap, CM Yogi stated that the core objective is to build a seamless, integrated value chain spanning entirely from raw fibre to yarn, yarn to fabric, fabric to garments, and directly onto the global market.

Launch of Key Portals, Skill Schemes, and Rs 5,196 Crore MoU Signings

To give concrete momentum to the industrial overhaul, the Chief Minister launched several transformative initiatives during the inaugural ceremony, including the UP Tech Mitra Portal, the Handloom Weavers' Prosperity scheme, and the Uttar Pradesh Textile Sector Training and Skill Development Scheme. Demonstrating immediate investor confidence, Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth Rs 5,196 crore were successfully signed within the textile sector during the conclave. Additionally, the Chief Minister distributed Letters of Comfort (LOCs) accounting for Rs 163 crore in investments alongside financial subsidies totaling Rs 60 crore, reinforcing the state's investor-friendly policy framework.

Rich Heritage Meets Modern Industrial Growth: UP Ranks Third in National Textile Production

Tracing the state's deep-rooted textile history dating back thousands of years—with classical references found in Vedic literature, the Ramayana, and the Mahabharata—CM Yogi noted that iconic products like Kashi’s silk textiles, Varanasi’s famed silk saris, Bhadohi’s world-class carpets, and Lucknow’s exquisite chikankari embody the state's timeless craftsmanship. Powered by over two lakh handloom weavers and five lakh powerloom artisans, the textile sector remains the second-largest employment generator after agriculture. Uttar Pradesh currently ranks third nationwide in textile production, contributing 13 to 14 percent of the country's total output, while apparel and handicraft exports have surged by 56 percent over the past six years, propelling the state to become India's fourth-largest textile exporter with 17 GI-tagged products.

Expanding Into Technical Textiles, PM Mitra Parks, and Apparel Hubs Across Districts

With the industry evolving rapidly, Uttar Pradesh is aggressively expanding into technical textiles catering to defence, healthcare, agriculture, and sports sectors. Flagship projects such as the PM Mitra Park and the Sant Kabir Textile Park are spearheading this transformation, with dedicated land reserves established across Varanasi, Amroha, Bareilly, Sant Kabir Nagar, and Bijnor. Furthermore, land identification processes are underway in Sitapur, Mau, Kanpur, Jhansi, and Rae Bareli, while Noida is being rapidly developed into a premier global apparel city. Prominent industry leaders, including Ramky Group Founder Chairman Alla Ayodhya Rami Reddy and CITI Vice President Ashwin Chandran, lauded Uttar Pradesh's secure industrial climate and progressive policy measures, paving the way for a revolutionary era in Indian textiles.
