Lucknow: In a landmark move aimed at transforming the welfare and security of contractual workforce members, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has introduced sweeping protective measures and financial incentives for outsourced employees across the state. Declaring an end to corporate exploitation, the Chief Minister announced that private agencies and outsourcing companies will no longer possess the authority to terminate employees arbitrarily, making official government clearance mandatory before any such action can be taken.
Government Permission Required Before Terminating Outsourced Staff
Addressing a major gathering during the launch of the Uttar Pradesh Outsourced Services Corporation (UPCOS) in Lucknow on Wednesday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed the historical vulnerabilities faced by contractual workers. Highlighting how previous administrations often treated outsourced personnel as expendable burdens—frequently letting companies owned by political relatives exploit staff—CM Yogi emphasized that his government views these workers as valuable state assets. Under the new regulatory framework, no outsourcing company can directly dismiss an employee. A formal investigation will be conducted by the government to verify complaints; if allegations are found baseless, the employee's job will remain entirely secure, effectively putting an end to workplace harassment.
Comprehensive Health, Maternity, and Insurance Benefits
The newly unveiled welfare package brings extensive social security coverage to outsourced employees and their families. Key highlights of the initiative include:
Cashless Healthcare & ESI Integration: ESI funds will be channeled directly to hospitals. If adequate treatment is unavailable locally, employees will be linked to cashless healthcare facilities, extending up to ₹5 lakh in medical coverage for the entire family alongside assured maternity benefits.
Accident and Disaster Insurance: In the unfortunate event of an accidental death or disaster, families will receive accident insurance ranging between ₹20 lakh and ₹50 lakh.
Specialized Financial Relief: Assistance of ₹10 lakh will be provided in cases involving fire-related tragedies, alongside ₹5 lakh for emergency medical aid and ₹10 lakh for air ambulance support when required.
Educational and Marriage Support: To secure the future of employees' dependents during major life crises, the state will provide ₹8 lakh for a son's education and ₹10 lakh for a daughter's education, alongside dedicated financial assistance for daughters' weddings and zero-balance banking accounts covering four family members.
Launch of UPCOS Portal to Streamline Digital Integration
Marking a paradigm shift in human resource management, the Chief Minister officially inaugurated the Uttar Pradesh Outsourced Services Corporation (UPCOS) by launching its dedicated digital portal and website, alongside unveiling its official logo. Symbolic financial checks were also distributed to beneficiary outsourced employees during the event. By combining stringent job security, robust insurance frameworks, and digital transparency, the Yogi Adityanath administration has set a progressive benchmark for contractual labor welfare nationwide.
