Today, during a joint meeting of the Food Processing Department and the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission, Keshav Prasad Maurya directed officials to launch a comprehensive campaign to integrate rural women into milk production and the dairy business, thereby boosting their income and making them economically self-reliant. He emphasized extending the dairy scheme to every village across all 75 districts of the state and involving women, farmers, and the youth in the initiative.

Currently, 3.94 lakh women members across 7,220 villages in 42 districts are engaged in milk production. Through their efforts, approximately 10.77 lakh liters of milk are produced daily; 72,669 women have achieved the status of 'Lakhpati Didi' (earning an annual income of over ₹1 lakh), and a net profit of ₹133 crore has been generated from a total turnover of ₹5,839 crore. The Deputy Chief Minister instructed officials to conduct special awareness campaigns at the village level to ensure that eligible women and rural families are fully informed about the scheme. He directed that the processes for registration, application forms, and other necessary government documentation be simplified and made accessible, and that full support be provided to those in need at the departmental level.

The Deputy Chief Minister stated that the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi—encompassing women's empowerment, a self-reliant India (Atmanirbhar Bharat), and the goal of creating one crore 'Lakhpati Didis'—is being realized in Uttar Pradesh by linking it to the rural economy. Milk production is emerging as a robust source of regular income for rural women. This initiative not only strengthens the economic status of women and increases family incomes but also creates new opportunities for employment and self-employment in villages. The success of women involved in milk production demonstrates the immense potential for economic self-reliance among rural women. The government is committed to expanding this model to include as many women as possible. As women's incomes rise and the rural economy strengthens, Uttar Pradesh will advance rapidly towards becoming a developed state, in alignment with the vision of a 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India).
