Commuters and international travelers in the National Capital Region are set to experience a monumental transformation in connectivity as the blueprint for a direct transit corridor taking flyers straight from the heart of Delhi to the upcoming Noida International Airport has been officially locked in. In a high-level development, the Noida Authority on Wednesday finalized the route design for a massive 50-kilometer-long elevated expressway. Engineered to bypass chronic urban gridlocks, the multi-crore infrastructure project promises seamless, signal-free travel for residents across several key residential and commercial zones in Delhi and NCR, significantly cutting down transit times to the international aviation hub.
Revised Alignment Design Finalized After Irrigation Department Clearance
The meticulous route planning for this ambitious expressway underwent critical adjustments to overcome geographical and administrative hurdles. Following coordination challenges regarding clearance from the Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department concerning the Yamuna embankment, the alignment was strategically modified. The finalized six-lane expressway will now run parallel, exactly five meters away from the Yamuna embankment towards the Noida side. This thoughtful engineering adjustment ensures smooth implementation while creating an alternate arterial route designed to drastically relieve the heavy vehicular burden and traffic jams traditionally plaguing the heavily congested Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.
Strategic Connectivity for Delhi and Faridabad Residents
The infrastructural master plan is structured to provide direct, hassle-free entry points for commuters residing in prominent eastern and southern localities of the national capital. Residents living in Delhi's Akshardham, Mayur Vihar, Patparganj, Kalindi Kunj, and Sarita Vihar will gain direct access to the airport corridor without navigating inner-city bottlenecks. Furthermore, seamless integration via the Manjhawali Bridge will open up convenient connectivity for travelers commuting from neighboring Faridabad in Haryana, transforming the airport into a centrally accessible transit node for the entire sub-region.
Project Execution by NHAI with an Estimated Budget of ₹4,000 Crore
With the route design successfully approved by the Noida Authority following submissions from expert consultant firms working alongside the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the project is moving rapidly into its execution phases. Detailed Project Report (DPR) formulations are currently underway, which will be immediately followed by soil bearing capacity testing at the sites. Estimated at a massive capital expenditure of approximately ₹4,000 crore, the construction, operation, and long-term maintenance of the expressway will be spearheaded by NHAI. According to Noida Authority CEO Krishna Karunesh, the transformative corridor will originate near the Akshardham Temple in Delhi, connecting directly to a 120-meter-wide thoroughfare running along the Yamuna embankment from Sector 94 and covering roughly 27 kilometers within Noida territory alone.
