32-Km Tiger & Elephant Wilderness Route Opens for Eco-Tourism
Nature enthusiasts seeking an immersive retreat from urban chaos can now venture into the dense canopy of Amangarh Tiger Reserve, as the sanctuary officially commenced its 2026–27 eco-tourism season on Sunday. Located along the scenic sub-Himalayan belt in western Uttar Pradesh, the sanctuary welcomed visitors following a formal inauguration led by Badhapur MLA Kunwar Sushant Singh at the Kehripur forest complex. Spanning an expansive 9,500 hectares of pristine sal, teak, and mixed deciduous woodlands, the reserve offers an untamed sanctuary where morning mist filters through high canopies, herds of spotted deer roam across open clearings, and the distant trumpeting of wild tuskers echoes through the wilderness.
Thrilling 32-Kilometer Circuit: Exploring the Kehripur to Jhirna Wilderness Route
The signature highlight of the Amangarh jungle safari is an intensive, three to three-and-a-half-hour circuit that covers approximately 32 kilometers round-trip. Registered open gypsies embark directly from the Kehripur Forest Complex, traversing rugged trails toward the frontier border along Jhirna Gate. According to official Forest Department census figures, the protected reserve provides shelter to more than 6,524 documented wild animals, featuring a thriving predator guild of 28 Bengal tigers and 168 leopards, alongside a robust herd of 105 wild Asiatic elephants. Sightings of sloth bears, sambar, chital (spotted deer), porcupines, and exotic migratory woodland birds regularly punctuate the journey, offering wildlife photographers and travelers an unfiltered glimpse into a biodiversity hotspot.
Revised Safari Tariff Structure: Gypsy Rentals, Entry Passes, and Guide Charges
To modernize field operations and elevate visitor facilities across the circuit, authorities have proposed a structured 15 percent revision across core safari components ahead of peak winter footfalls. Under the updated framework, private gypsy hire is proposed to adjust from ₹2,280 to ₹2,622, standard vehicle gate entry fees increase from ₹300 to ₹345, and mandatory nature guide compensation adjusts from ₹400 to ₹460. Per-person entry permits for domestic Indian tourists have been calibrated from ₹100 to ₹115, while entry fees for international visitors are slated between ₹600 and ₹690. The organized operations continue to be executed through the grassroots Kehripur Eco Development Committee, empowering trained drivers and certified naturalists drawn from surrounding forest fringe villages.
Enhanced Track Infrastructure, Cleared Viewlines, and Visitor Amenities
Addressing the operational readiness of the trails, Regional Forest Officer Ankita Kishori confirmed that extensive civil restoration has revamped the entire safari trail. Deep ruts and monsoon-damaged paths have been graded, while strategic sightlines along dense brush corridors have been cleared to afford passengers seated in open gypsies panoramic visibility deep into the thickets. To enrich visitor experiences, authorities have set up local handicraft kiosks, refreshments counters, tea stalls, and souvenir shops, alongside a dedicated wildlife conference hall designed to host educational nature orientations for visiting school groups. Following a solid preceding season that hosted 3,528 domestic tourists and international visitors, Amangarh stands fully primed to emerge as a premier eco-travel destination for wildlife lovers across the country.
