In a dual infrastructure victory for rural and semi-urban connectivity, the Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, sanctioned ₹5.65 crore for two transformative connectivity projects across Hardoi district. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath cleared administrative and financial sanctions amounting to ₹315.24 lakh (₹3.15 crore) for the construction of a permanent vehicular bridge over the Sukheta River along the Naushera–Dabhelia rural roadway. Simultaneously, the state administration greenlit ₹250 lakh (₹2.50 crore) to build a full-fledged passenger bus terminal in the bustling market hub of Harpalpur, resolving decades-old transit bottlenecks for thousands of daily rural commuters, students, and regional traders.

The bridge across the Sukheta River fulfills an enduring, decades-long demand of local villagers who previously faced perilous river crossings to access schools, healthcare centers, and district headquarters, a crisis that intensified during monsoon floods when entire rural habitations were cut off. Following a formal legislative proposal submitted by regional MLA and Minister of State for Higher Education Rajni Tiwari, the state executive fast-tracked financial clearances, naming the Public Works Department (PWD) as the nodal engineering agency to execute the project. Local panchayat residents highlighted that the bridge will integrate isolated agrarian hamlets into mainstream economic corridors, reducing circuitous detours and ensuring year-round, all-weather motorable transit for surrounding villages.

Modern Transit Terminal for Harpalpur: ₹2.50-Crore Facility to Uplift Katiyari Commuters

Further expanding the district's public transport grid, the government approved funds for a dedicated bus terminal at Harpalpur following persistent legislative advocacy by Katiyari MLA Madhavendra Pratap Singh 'Ranu'. The Uttar Pradesh State Construction Cooperative Federation Limited (UPCSCF) has been designated as the primary construction agency to execute the transit complex. In the absence of an organized passenger depot, long-distance commuters, elderly passengers, female travelers, and patients traveling from remote parts of the Katiyari assembly belt were forced to wait for roadside private and state carriers under open skies, creating significant traffic congestion. The upcoming terminal will centralize scheduled roadway bus services, provide sheltered waiting lounges, and unlock commercial activity to stimulate local trade across the Harpalpur-Katiyari belt.
