102 THR plants in UP have benefited from the hard work of the women (Didis) and the technical approach of Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya
Shri Maurya stated that a review of the THR plants operating under the mission revealed that 102 plants are currently profitable. It is essential to steer the remaining 202 plants towards profitability as well. To this end, the concerned officials should review the operational procedures, production capacity, quality, costs, and marketing arrangements of each plant and formulate effective action plans to address any shortcomings. He added that the success of these plants would create employment opportunities for women and strengthen the economic status of self-help groups.
In the state, approximately 13.5 million rural families have joined self-help groups, and 8.223 million women farmers have been linked to livelihood activities. This represents a significant achievement in terms of the growing participation, collective strength, and economic self-reliance of rural women. He stated that through self-help groups, women are increasing their family income by engaging in agriculture, animal husbandry, food processing, dairy production, and various small-scale enterprises. This is leading to an improved standard of living, better education for their children, enhanced family care, and greater social respect.
