Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced an extensive employment blitz, committing to deliver over 100,000 government jobs within the next six months through weekly recruitment distribution ceremonies. Addressing an appointment letter distribution ceremony at Lok Bhavan in Lucknow on Sunday, the Chief Minister handed over joining credentials to 912 candidates selected through the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board’s Clerical Cadre Direct Recruitment 2023. Taking sharp aim at opposition parties, Adityanath asserted that while previous regimes allowed vacancies to languish amid systemic corruption, his administration has institutionalized a merit-driven, recommendation-free mechanism that guarantees postings without bribes or patronage.

912 UP Police Recruits Handed Appointment Letters at Lok Bhavan Ceremony

The Sunday distribution marked the second consecutive day of formal appointments in the state capital, following the handover of 818 appointment letters on Saturday, with another major distribution drive slated for September 22. The 912 newly inducted personnel will assume responsibilities across critical administrative police wings, comprising Sub-Inspectors of Police (Confidential), Assistant Sub-Inspectors of Police (Clerical), and Assistant Sub-Inspectors of Police (Accounting). Addressing the inductees, Adityanath emphasized that a fair and merit-based selection process restores citizen faith in governance, contrasting the current process with the pre-2017 era when examinations were frequently undermined by solver gangs, paper leaks, and unlisted candidates receiving illegal appointments.

1 Lakh Jobs in 6 Months: State Mandates Weekly Recruitment Drives

The Chief Minister outlined a systematic schedule to complete pending recruitment pipelines across education, civil police, revenue, and public service commissions within half a year. Adityanath stated that high-level recruitment events will be held every week across the state to meet the goal of employing 100,000 qualified youths. To safeguard this pipeline, the administration has enforced strict anti-paper leak legislation carrying penalties up to life imprisonment and full asset confiscation for perpetrators. The elimination of interview rounds for Group C and Group D posts has further neutralized backdoor influence, ensuring that candidates from initial application to field posting require neither political recommendations nor unofficial payments.

Upgraded Training Capacity and Surging Ranks of Women in UP Police

The structural modernisation of the state's policing framework was highlighted as a cornerstone of the administration’s law-and-order transformation. The state has expanded its concurrent police training capacity tenfold, leaping from 6,000 recruits to over 60,000 personnel at a time. The representation of women in uniform has undergone an equally dramatic shift: female police strength has surged from under 10,000 officers prior to 2017 to over 44,000 today, with ongoing intake rounds scheduled to push that tally beyond 50,000 by the end of 2026.

From Riots and Curfews to Curfew-Free Growth: The UP Police Model

Highlighting the state's turnaround from recurring communal violence to sustained public order, the Chief Minister remarked that Uttar Pradesh has transformed into a curfew-free, riot-free, and mafia-free state. High-profile infrastructure expansions, including seven municipal police commissionerates, specialized State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) units, Uttar Pradesh Special Security Force (UPSSF), and the Uttar Pradesh State Forensic Institute across 110 acres near Lucknow airport, have reinforced crime prevention. In addition, cyber police stations operate in every district, alongside high-rise police residential complexes across 56 districts. Director General of Police Rajiv Krishna confirmed that the basic training of the 912 recruits, including 173 women officers, commences on October 6, comprising six months of institutional instruction and three months of practical field training, while active hiring for 35,000 direct posts and 9,457 departmental promotions proceeds on track.
