Suspense crime, Digital Desk : The United States Embassy in Jerusalem has announced that it will be temporarily closed to the public for three days this week, from Wednesday, June 12, through Friday, June 14.
The closure is in observance of the Jewish holiday of Shavuot, a major festival that commemorates the receiving of the Torah on Mount Sinai and is a public holiday in Israel.
Both the main embassy and its Consular Section, which handles visa and passport services, will be shut during this period. The embassy confirmed that normal operations and public services are scheduled to resume on Sunday, June 16, which marks the start of the standard work week in Israel.
While regular services will be unavailable, the embassy has assured that assistance for U.S. citizens facing life-or-death emergencies will remain accessible. Those in need of urgent help during the closure are advised to contact the American Citizen Services (ACS) unit.
This temporary shutdown is a routine procedure for diplomatic missions observing significant national or religious holidays in their host countries.
