Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Former President Donald Trump has launched a vitriolic and deeply personal attack on Zohran Mamdani, a rising progressive politician of Indian-Ugandan descent, following his victory in the Democratic primary for the New York State Senate.
In a fiery post on his Truth Social platform, Trump lashed out at Mamdani, who is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America. The attack came after Mamdani secured the nomination for New York's 59th State Senate district.
"Looks terrible, has a grating voice, and is a 100 per cent Communist Lunatic," Trump wrote, targeting the state senator's appearance and political ideology. He went on to criticize the political direction of New York, lamenting the changes he sees in the state.
However, Mamdani, who is the son of acclaimed filmmaker Mira Nair, met the attack not with anger but with defiant humor. Responding on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), he cleverly turned the insults into a new slogan.
"Woke up to the news that Donald Trump called me a 'Communist lunatic' with a 'grating voice,'" Mamdani posted. "That’s right, folks. Grating voice, great politics."
This incident highlights the increasingly harsh nature of American political discourse, as Trump continues to use his platform to target political opponents with personal and inflammatory rhetoric. Mamdani's calm and witty response, however, demonstrates a modern approach to handling such attacks, refusing to be drawn into a mudslinging match and instead using the moment to reinforce his political message.
