Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Ahmedabad, India – Operations at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in Ahmedabad were significantly disrupted on Thursday after a small private aircraft experienced a mishap during takeoff. The plane veered off the runway, but fortunately, both pilots on board escaped unharmed.
The aircraft, a Beechcraft Super King Air 200 operating as a private charter, was conducting a training sortie. According to initial reports, the pilots encountered a technical issue during the takeoff roll. This snag caused them to lose control, leading the plane to skid off the main runway and come to a halt on the adjacent grassy area.
The incident immediately forced the closure of the airport's only active runway. Airport emergency services, including fire and rescue teams, were promptly dispatched to the scene to secure the aircraft and the area.
The blockage led to a cascade of flight disruptions. At least eight flights scheduled to land at Ahmedabad were diverted to nearby airports, including Vadodara and Mumbai, while numerous departing flights faced significant delays. This caused considerable inconvenience for passengers awaiting their flights.
Officials have confirmed that an investigation into the precise cause of the technical snag is now underway, led by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), India's primary aviation regulator. Airport authorities worked diligently to move the disabled aircraft and clear the runway to resume normal flight operations as quickly as possible.
