With the withdrawal of troops along the border near eastern Ladakh almost complete, India and China on Thursday exchanged sweets at several border points along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) on the occasion of Diwali. Army sources said that on Thursday, soldiers of India and China exchanged sweets at several border points along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) on the occasion of Diwali. This traditional practice was observed a day after the two countries completed the withdrawal of troops at two confrontation points in Demchok and Depsang plains in eastern Ladakh, bringing fresh warmth to China-India relations.
Sweets were exchanged among the soldiers.
During this, soldiers of the Indian and Chinese Army exchanged sweets at the Chushul-Moldo border point on the occasion of Diwali. The Chinese PLA exchanged its traditional Chinese mask as a memento and sweets with the Indian Army during the sweet exchange. An army source told PTI, “On the occasion of Diwali, sweets were exchanged between soldiers of India and China at several border points on the LAC.” Sources said that this exchange took place at five Border Personnel Meeting (BPM) points on the LAC. On Wednesday, an army source said that the soldiers of both sides have completed disengagement at two confrontation points and patrolling will start at these points soon. The source then said that the verification process is going on after the disengagement and the modalities of patrolling are to be decided between the ground commanders.
finalized the conversation
“Talks will continue at the local commander level,” an army source said. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said in Delhi on October 21 that an agreement has been finalized between India and China after talks over the past several weeks and will resolve issues that cropped up in 2020. The agreement on patrolling and disengagement of troops along the LAC in eastern Ladakh was cemented, which is a breakthrough towards ending the standoff that has been going on for over four years.
