Thalapathy Vijay’s iconic romantic drama Sachein is making a comeback to theatres nearly two decades after its original release on April 14, 2005. Marking its 20th anniversary, the film's re-release has already created a stir, with over 9,000 tickets sold across 75 shows in Tamil Nadu, generating Rs 12 lakh in advance bookings and recording a 40% occupancy rate.

With two days left before the re-release hits screens, trade analysts are watching closely to see if it crosses the Rs 50 lakh advance booking milestone.

Cast Celebrates the Nostalgia
The 2005 rom-com, directed by John Mahendran, features Genelia Dsouza and Bipasha Basu in prominent roles. Genelia, who played a leading role in the film, expressed her excitement on social media, posting:
“Sachein - Has my heart always ”

The late Raghuvaran also delivered a memorable performance, adding emotional depth to the film. The music, composed by Devi Sri Prasad, and visuals captured by late cinematographer Jeeva, continue to be celebrated by fans.

A Classic Returns Despite a Historic Box Office Clash
Sachein originally faced stiff competition at the box office from Rajinikanth’s Chandramukhi and Kamal Haasan’s Mumbai Xpress. Despite the high-profile clash, the film became a commercial success, thanks to its refreshing college romance plot, entertaining music, and Vijay’s charming performance.

The story follows a love triangle involving two college students battling their feelings, which takes a twist when a lecturer enters the picture and disrupts the balance.
