Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Hopes for reviving the landmark 2015 Iran nuclear deal have been dealt a severe blow, as Tehran has declared further negotiations with the United States "meaningless." Iran's top security official publicly accused Washington of being directly complicit in ongoing Israeli military strikes against Iranian interests, effectively tying the fate of any nuclear diplomacy to the long-running shadow war in the Middle East.
In a stark message, Ali Shamkhani, the Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, stated that dialogue is pointless while the U.S. actively supports and enables what he termed the "Zionist regime's" aggression. He argued that the U.S. is "directly responsible" for Israel's actions, which have frequently targeted Iranian personnel and assets, particularly within Syria.
From Tehran's perspective, negotiating a nuclear agreement with a country that simultaneously facilitates military attacks against it is a non-starter. "How can you negotiate with a party that is complicit in strikes against you?" has become the core of their defiant stance. This accusation fundamentally shifts the goalposts for diplomacy, creating a new, significant precondition for any future talks to resume.
This public declaration hardens Iran's position amid already stalled efforts to resurrect the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the original nuclear accord from which the U.S. withdrew in 2018. It also puts Washington in a difficult position, caught between its ironclad alliance with Israel and its stated goal of preventing a nuclear-armed Iran through diplomatic means.
The statement escalates an already volatile situation, suggesting that progress on the nuclear front is now inextricably linked to the broader regional conflicts between Iran and Israel. For international observers, this move signals a deep freeze in negotiations and casts a dark shadow over the future of global non-proliferation efforts in the region.
