Yuzvendra Chahal Wreaks: Indian Spinner Destroys Durham Batting Lineup with Four-Wicket Haul

Post

Indian cricket team's star leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is turning heads across English domestic cricket with his sensational bowling form. Currently representing Northamptonshire in the ongoing 2026 County Championship, Chahal put on a masterclass of spin bowling during the clash against Durham at the County Ground in Northampton. Ripping through the opposition batting order, the veteran spinner picked up four crucial wickets to dismantle Durham’s innings and cement his status as Northamptonshire's standout performer with the ball.

Dismantling Durham with a Brilliant Four-Wicket Spell

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Durham struggled to cope with Northamptonshire’s disciplined bowling attack and were bundled out for a modest total of 205 runs in their first innings. While David Bedingham offered some resistance with a knock of 81, the rest of the batting lineup collapsed against Chahal's magic. Operating with supreme control, Chahal conceded just 36 runs in his 15.2 overs, including three maiden overs, finishing with impressive figures of four wickets. His stellar scalps included Durham captain Alex Lees, star all-rounder Ben Stokes, Matthew Potts, and Casey Aldridge, with both Stokes and Potts dismissed clean bowled.

Continuing a Stellar County Stint Despite Team India Absence

Chahal has been plying his trade in the English County Championship since July 21, consistently delivering match-winning performances across various fixtures. Having last featured for India in a T20I against the West Indies in August 2023, the 35-year-old spinner has been out of the national setup for over three years. Boasting a stellar international record of 121 wickets in 72 ODIs and 96 wickets in 80 T20 Internationals, Chahal continues to prove his elite red-ball and white-ball credentials on foreign pitches as he fights for a potential comeback.
