Clocking a blistering finish of 6:13.25, the Indian crew engaged in a fiercely contested three-way battle for continental supremacy, finishing just 3.48 seconds adrift of China's gold-winning pair Yi Judi and Ni Yide, and a mere 2.76 seconds behind Uzbekistan's Mekhrozbek Mamatkulov and Pavel Sorin, who clinched silver. The podium feat marks Satnam Singh’s second consecutive Asian Games bronze medal after his podium success in Hangzhou 2023, solidifying India’s standing among Asia’s top rowing contingents.

Setting an aggressive pace right out of the starting blocks, Satnam and Salman executed a disciplined tactical race plan, maintaining a steady second position through the critical 500m, 1000m, and 1500m markers. Throughout three-quarters of the two-kilometer course, the Indian oarsmen kept immense pressure on the Chinese boat, trailing by barely half a second before Uzbekistan surged in the closing sprint to edge into second place. Despite missing out on silver in the final 500-meter dash, the Indian pair displayed tremendous stamina and synchronicity to protect their podium position, crossing the line well ahead of the trailing fleet to claim a well-earned bronze.

The medal reflects years of grit across contrasting athletic journeys anchored by India's Armed Forces. Satnam Singh, hailing from Punjab's Mansa district, transitioned from national handball to rowing in 2018 under the mentorship of Olympian Swaran Singh Virk, going on to represent India at the 2018 Youth Olympics, becoming the first Indian Navy rower to win the Senior National single sculls crown, and overcoming an in-competition injury to win quadruple sculls bronze at Hangzhou 2023. Meanwhile, Naib Subedar Salman Khan took up the oars in 2018 upon joining the Indian Army's Bombay Engineer Group (BEG). Guided by coaches Satyawan, Satish Sirat, Prabhat Mishra, and later honing his craft at the Army Rowing Node (ARN) under Kudrat Ali and Major Nagendra Hooda, Salman overcame career doubts and rose through the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) and Asian Rowing Cup podiums to earn his maiden Asian Games medal for the country.
