Indian Army athletes have written a glorious chapter in sporting history by delivering their best-ever performance at the recently concluded Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. Out of India's robust 501-member contingent, 62 elite Army athletes competed across 15 distinct sporting disciplines, bringing immense pride to the nation by securing a remarkable haul of 20 medals, comprising 6 gold, 8 silver, and 6 bronze.
Dominating the Medal Tally: Exceptional Contributions
The stellar performance of the armed forces contingent accounted for a substantial share of India's overall success at the international multi-sport event:
Medal Share: Army athletes captured 23.52 percent of India's total medal count (20 out of 85) and contributed 29 percent of the country's total gold medals (6 out of 21).
Shooting Excellence: Four Army shooters participated in shooting events, phenomenal precision resulting in three gold medals and one silver medal.

Naib Subedar Gulvir Singh: Long-distance running history was made as Gulvir clinched two silver and one bronze medal, becoming the first Indian male track and field athlete to secure three individual medals at a single Asian Games.
Havildar Sawan Barwal: Set a blistering new national record in the men's marathon with a phenomenal timing of 2 hours, 11 minutes, and 37 seconds.
