From Yeh chori badi drama queen hai, to Kar gayi chull, Sidharth Malhotra has played a plethora of roles, but now he is set to take on a new one, fatherhood. As he awaits the arrival of his first child, in a conversation with Lilly Singh, he spoke deeply about parenting, masculinity, and core values.
Along with Kiara Advani, Malhotra posted a picture on social media on the 28th of February announcing that the two would be having their first child. Following that, an interview with Sidharth surfaced about his views on how he plans to raise children, particularly boys, in today’s day and age.
Teaching younger boys the right values
During the interview, he stated that fatherhood and responsibility go hand in hand. It is critical for him to raise children with solid moral principles. He stated that people are born male, but they must choose to become a man. For him, true madness is a combination of being emotionally kind and aware, and responsible.
According to him, when he becomes a father he would like to guarantee that his son, daughter or any child he decides to have is raised with proper morals. Being strong is as crucial as being sensitive or kind.
Sidharth also touched upon how the parents help to develop a child’s outlook on life. The family’s narrative is often ingrained in them in a certain way, be it through conversations or daily activities, and accordingly, shapes their worldview as well as their relationships with themselves.
On the topic of feelings, Sidharth shared how being vulnerable made him uneasy in some situations. When he was younger, it was common for him to think challenges were things to be tackled single handily. He was introverted as a child which made it challenging for him to express his emotions.
Nonetheless, with time, he learned that his struggles could not be resolved through avoidance. He now says that being a husband has made talking about fears and insecurities easier, especially with Kiara. He is of the opinion that men need to talk about their feelings more since doing so brings people closer to one another.
As expected, social media has been flooded with the star couple’s videos as fans can't seem to get enough of their explanations and more importantly for showering the couple with well-wishes on their upcoming adventures of parenthood.
Fatherhood has a set of responsibilities
Sidharth went on to emphasize the part fathers play in developing a child's personality. He raised the point that every parent must do their best to be a proper role model. Raising healthy, stable human beings is not merely an act of providing but a task in which core values are instilled.
He went on to say that the most important aspect of becoming a man is taking responsibility. Sensitivity to one’s family and spouse should come naturally as part of one’s upbringing. Parents ought to teach their sons that what they say and do should be taken seriously.
While Sidharth gets ready to start this new phase, fans are excited to see him step into fatherhood. He will soon appear in the romantic comedy movie Param Sundari alongside Janhvi Kapoor. For now, though, Sidharth is concentrating on something even more exciting, preparing to meet his first child.
