Shraddha Kapoor is the daughter of Shakti Kapoor, a comedian turned villain in Bollywood. Unlike other star kids, Shraddha is among the top actresses in the industry, Outshining Deepika, Alia, and Priyanka both in films and social media.
A Starring Journey
Shraddha’s acting beginnings are noted with her debut in *Teen Patti* (2010) and then *Luv Ka The End* (2011) which both flopped. Everything changed after the release of *Aashiqui 2* in 2013. Her performance in the movie and the movie’s success made her an overnight star. With the success of *Aashiqui 2*, the film’s director Mohit Suri has often mentioned how memorable her performance truly is. He even goes on to state how incredible her popularity is even today, mentioning audiences are still chanting the character’s name to this day.
Her shraddha-volution kicked off with her equipping the role of the protagonist in Ek Villain followed by Haider, ABCD 2, and Baaghi. Stree and Stree 2 are considered the first Bollywood horror comedies, with the latter released in 2024 being one of the top 3 highest grossing Bollywood films that year with 857 crore in global box office earnings.
Shraddha’s social media success tracks alongside her success in film. She is now the third most followed Indian on Instagram with 94 million followers, now ahead of Priyanka Chopra (91.8 million), Alia Bhatt (85 million), and Deepika Padukone (80 million). This remarkable achievement not only highlights her popularity, but also clearly indicates the power of her influence.
Bollywood is not her only focus, however. She is also an entrepreneur, owning her own jewelry line, in addition to her growing brand of Shraddha’s called Shraddha Aces. She also stays on top of the ever emerging talent in the film industry, which is not an easy task, and this shows how dedicated and adaptable she is.
Her most recent blockbuster hit Stree 2, which had fierce competition from other major films, came out on top. The film Stree 2 featured and culminated much of the old and new appeal in a blend of comedic horror which had the audience in stitches and joy. The film encapsulated and featured the old fan-favorite characters and a slew of star cameos.
