Pune: NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar on Saturday accused the elections of being rigged. He said that power and money were misused to control the entire electoral machinery in Maharashtra, which has never been seen before in any assembly or national election. Sharad Pawar made this statement during a meeting with Dr. Baba Adhav. Let us tell you that Adhav is protesting against the misuse of EVMs in the recent assembly elections. On Thursday, he started his three-day protest at Phule Wada, the Pune residence of social reformer Jyotiba Phule.

‘This has never been seen before’

Sharad Pawar said that elections have recently taken place in the country and people are restless about them. He said that Baba Adhav’s movement represents this restlessness. He said, “There is a murmur among the people that in the recent elections in Maharashtra, power was misused and a large amount of money was used which was never seen before. Such things are heard in local-level elections, but the capture of the entire electoral system with the help of money and misuse of power has never been seen before. However, we saw this in Maharashtra and people are now restless.”

‘Opposition’s demands are not being heard’

Sharad Pawar further said, “I heard that Baba Adhav has taken the lead on this issue and he is agitating at Phule Wada. His protest gives hope to the people but it is not enough. There is a danger of destruction of parliamentary democracy, so a mass uprising is necessary.” He said, “Despite extensive discussion on this issue in the country, whenever the opposition tries to raise it in Parliament, it is not allowed to speak. Opposition leaders have been demanding an opportunity to speak on these issues for six days, but their demands have not been accepted even once. This shows that they want to attack parliamentary democracy.”

Mahayuti got a huge majority.

Let us tell you that even before this, Maha Vikas Aghadi’s allies Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT,) and NCP (SP) have accused EVM tampering in Maharashtra assembly elections. Let us tell you that Mahayuti got a huge victory in this election. In this, the Mahayuti alliance of BJP, Shiv Se, and NCP won 230 seats out of 288. On the other hand, Maha Vikas Aghadi of Congress, Shiv Sena (U, BT,) and NCP (SP) won only 46 seats.
