Indian movie enthusiasts were excitedly anticipating the release of Sikandar, starring Salman Khan. Unfortunately, upon its release, it was received with a huge backlash by the audience. Yes, some fans were just glad to see him back and did not care about the lack of plot or any substantiative storyline, however, the general feedback from other moviegoers was that it was an absolute catastrophe. Moviegoers slam Salman Khan's film
Cinema fan took to Instagram to express his opinion and called it ‘paisa waste.’ He went further to lambast the graphics and visuals of the movie and termed it “ghatiya quality (terrible quality).” Other skeptics also jumped on board highlighting how it was a one time watch and asked questions like, "Is this what we expect from Indian cinema now? Is this what we have come to?" “There’s no plot, just Salman in AI-enhanced slow-mo. Where is the Salman from Dabangg? He’s faded away,” one additional radical said.
Disappointment with AR Murugadoss has been growing in general as expressed by this user: “Sure there’s action and a good social cause but it’s just soooo dated after a point.”
A rare and bizarre excuse given by another donut-hater was, "Salman Khan ka role nahi samajh aaya"(Couldn’t understand Salman Khan’s role) which, to be fair, is... odd to say the least. It was largely overshadowed by other statements saying, “Film will go flop. Even with Eid today and the theatre was still empty, I can almost guarantee it.”
Salman Khan’s Movie Gets Panned
There was another user who wasn’t pleased with Salman’s performance in the movie as they argued, “Yeh sabse wahiyat movie thi life ki. Salman ki jo acting hai ekdum wahiyat hai.” (This was the worst movie of my life. Salman’s acting was absolutely terrible).
An onlooker also claimed that people were not particularly amazed by the flick and that even the cinemas were empty. A disgruntled viewer elaborated, “Maza nahi aaya. Aisa laga raha tha Salman nahi koi aur kar raha hai Salman Khan ka role. Bodybuilder yaar kaisa laga raha hai voh. Badia nahi lagi.” (I didn't enjoy it. It felt like someone else was playing Salman Khan's role, not him. He looked like a bodybuilder, man. It wasn't good.) Most others like him also gave it a zero rating. Another person commented, “I want my money back.”
On Sikandar
The film had high hopes but drastically missed the mark after its opening. On the first day it only made 26 crore compared to Vicky Kyushal’s Chhaava which opened to 31 crore.
Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Prateik Babbar, Sharman Joshi, and Sathyaraj plays pivotal roles in the movie, which is directed by AR Murugadoss and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. Critics claim the film fails to evoke emotion and follows a weak storyline despite the praise for the action scenes.
At the trailer launch, Salman promised Sikandar would do well by proclaiming, “Eid, Diwali, New Year, festive, non-festive, it’s the love of the people, and picture acchi ho ya buri ho, woh sau (₹100 crore) toh paar kara hi dete hain” (The film, regardless if it’s good or bad, will earn ₹100 crores). But in a change of heart, he said this movie will go over the ₹200 Crore line, “ ₹100 crore bohot pehle ki baat hai” ( ₹100 crores is a thing of the past).
