Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Russia's foreign ministry confirmed on Tuesday that work is actively underway on a draft document—a memorandum—that aims to lay out the foundational principles for a potential future peace agreement to bring the war in Ukraine to an end.

This development follows an earlier statement this month from Russian President Vladimir Putin. After a phone call with US President Donald Trump, Putin had indicated Moscow's readiness to engage with Ukraine on creating such a memorandum.

According to President Putin, this document would clearly define the core principles for reaching a settlement, establish a potential timeline for a peace agreement, and include specific details regarding a possible ceasefire.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova provided an update, stating that the Russian draft is still being developed. "Russia continues to develop a draft memorandum on a future peace treaty, defining a number of positions, such as the principles of settlement, the timing of a possible peace agreement, and a potential ceasefire for a certain amount of time if appropriate agreements are reached," she explained.

Zakharova further added that once this comprehensive document is finalized by the Russian side, it will then be handed over to Ukraine for their consideration.
