New Delhi. The second wave of Coronavirus has created a furor in India at this time. Patients and their families are struggling due to the acute shortage of oxygen and life-saving medicines. To help such people, not only the government or voluntary organizations, but the players are also making efforts at their level. For one such patient, Manika Batra, the golden girl of Indian table tennis, has tried to help. He has requested to provide Remedesivir injection for a Delhi patient by tweeting.
Batra wrote in a tweet that for Delhi’s 58-year-old corona patient Rajinder Sharma, 6 remedies injection is required immediately. He is currently admitted to Rosewood Hospital, Najafgarh. He has tagged Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Rajinder Nagar and the party’s national spokesperson Raghav Chadha. Apart from this, Batra has also requested help by tagging DCP Dwarka, District Magistrate of South West Delhi, and Pravesh Singh, BJP MP from West Delhi.
Apart from this, he has also sought help from BJP MP Gautam Gambhir and Bollywood actor Raveena Tandon.
Batra won the silver medal in doubles at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Indian women’s table tennis team led by Batra won the gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Then India defeated the four-time champion team Singapore in the final. At that time Batra had defeated World No-4 Feng Tianwei and won the India title match 3–1. Apart from this, Batra also won the gold medal in singles.
Only last month Manika Batra qualified for the mixed doubles event for Tokyo Olympics with Achintya Sharat Kamal. The Indian pair won the title by defeating world number five Korean duo Saung Soo Lee and Jihee Geon 4-2 in the Olympic qualifiers held in Doha. Both of them have already achieved quota for Tokyo Games in the singles category.
