Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Residents across Rajasthan are finally getting a much-needed break from the scorching summer heat as pre-monsoon thunderstorms have begun sweeping through several parts of the state. Cities like Jaipur, Kota, and Ajmer experienced a significant drop in temperature as skies turned overcast and scattered showers brought welcome relief.

The Jaipur Meteorological Center has issued a "yellow alert," forecasting continued unsettled weather for the next two to three days. The alert warns of thunderstorms accompanied by strong, gusty winds of 30-40 km/h and light to moderate rainfall across multiple districts.

Specifically, the forecast predicts this weather pattern will affect areas in the Jaipur, Kota, and Ajmer divisions. Districts including Alwar, Jaipur, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Bundi, and Tonk are expected to see continued rain and wind.

The recent downpours have already had a noticeable impact. In Jaipur, the weather shifted dramatically, with cloudy skies and cool breezes replacing the oppressive heat. Some areas, like Malpura in the Tonk district, recorded as much as 20mm of rainfall. This pre-monsoon activity has caused daytime and nighttime temperatures to fall by several degrees across the state, bringing them closer to normal levels for this time of year.

While these showers provide temporary relief, officials clarify that this is pre-monsoon activity, a common precursor to the main event. The official onset of the southwest monsoon, which brings sustained and widespread rainfall, is still expected to arrive in Rajasthan around the end of June or the first week of July. Until then, residents can expect these intermittent thunderstorms to continue offering a brief but welcome respite from the summer heat.
