Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Former President Donald Trump has vehemently dismissed reports of a secret $30 billion deal offered by the United States to Iran as a "pure hoax" and "propaganda," using the unconfirmed rumor to attack the Biden administration's foreign policy.
The controversy stems from a report published in the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida, which claimed the U.S. had brokered a deal through Oman. According to the report, the U.S. offered Iran $30 billion to freeze its nuclear program for five years. In return, Tehran would have to cease its support for proxy groups like Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis.
This alleged deal was reportedly linked to the recent, fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah. However, Trump immediately went on the offensive, labeling the entire story as "fake news."
In a statement, the former president framed the report as evidence of weakness from the current administration, suggesting that the U.S. was "begging" Iran for a deal. He tied it to his criticism of the recent ceasefire, calling it "pathetic" and implying that any such negotiation with Iran would be a failure.
"The Fake News is pushing a story that the United States is pushing a $30 Billion 'Deal' to Iran," Trump wrote. "This is a pure HOAX! It is just more propaganda and disinformation being put out by the Biden Administration."
While the report from Al-Jarida remains unverified, Trump's swift and forceful denial has turned the rumor into a political flashpoint. It highlights the deep-seated tensions surrounding U.S.-Iran relations and the highly contentious nature of any potential nuclear agreement, especially in a charged political climate.
