In a major crackdown against the illegal drug trade, the Chandigarh Police have successfully arrested a 27-year-old delivery executive in Manimajra for alleged drug trafficking. The accused has been identified as Utesh, also known as Udit, who is a local resident of Manimajra. According to initial police disclosures, the suspect worked as a delivery boy for the popular food delivery platform Swiggy and reportedly had no prior criminal record. Law enforcement authorities remain vigilant as they probe deeper into the network supplying narcotics in the region, ensuring that individuals misusing delivery services for illegal activities face strict legal repercussions under the law.
Routine Patrolling Leads to Recovery of 12.71 Grams of Heroin Under NDPS Act
The breakthrough occurred when a dedicated patrolling team from the Manimajra police station was stationed near DC Montessori School. Acting on sharp suspicion regarding the individual's movements, officers intercepted Utesh and conducted a thorough search. During the inspection, authorities recovered a polythene bag containing a light brown powdery substance. The seized material was immediately tested on-site by a Mobile Forensic Testing (MFT) team, which confirmed the substance to be heroin weighing 12.71 grams. Police promptly confiscated the contraband and formally registered a criminal case against the accused under the stringent Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, initiating further investigations to uncover potential accomplices.
