G20 Brazil Summit: PM Modi reached Brazil’s capital Rio de Janeiro on Monday to attend the 19th G20 summit. He was given a warm welcome upon his arrival here. The people of Brazil welcomed PM Narendra Modi with ‘Sanskrit chanting’. Let us tell you that this is the second phase of his three-nation visit, during which he will attend the 19th G20 leaders’ summit to be held in Brazil on November 18 and 19.

 

 

Expressed gratitude to the people of Brazil 

PM Modi thanked the people of Brazil for the warm and vibrant welcome. He wrote on the social media platform X, “Deeply touched by the warm and vibrant welcome of the Indian community on my arrival in Rio de Janeiro. Their energy reflects the affection that binds us across continents.”

PM Modi wrote on Twitter that he is looking forward to meeting various global leaders at the summit. In a post, PM Modi wrote, “Landed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to attend the G20 Summit. I am looking forward to the Summit deliberations and meaningful interactions with various global leaders.” He also shared photos of his welcome at the airport.

 

 

 

PM Modi’s visit to Brazil

PM Modi will attend the 19th G20 Summit as a member of the Troika during his Brazil visit. India is part of the G20 Troika along with Brazil and South Africa. Along with PM Modi, Chinese President Xi Jinping and his US counterpart Joe Biden will be among the leaders attending the Rio de Janeiro summit on November 18-19. In his departure statement on Saturday, PM Modi said, “This year, Brazil has built on India’s legacy. I look forward to meaningful discussions keeping in mind our vision of ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’. I will also use this opportunity.” 

 

 

Tour of Nigeria and Guyana

Earlier during his visit to Nigeria, PM Modi was conferred the country’s national award, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON). This was the 17th international award given to PM Modi by any country. Apart from PM Modi, Queen Elizabeth II is the only other foreign dignitary to be honored with the GCON. After Brazil, in the third and final leg of his visit, PM Modi will visit Guyana from November 19 to 21 at the invitation of President Mohamed Irfaan Ali. This will be the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Guyana in over 50 years.
