More than 5,000 chickens were killed after the H5N1 form of avian influenza or bird flu was detected in the Pipili area of ​​Puri district in Odisha. An official gave this information on Sunday. He said that after the mass death of chickens in a poultry farm in Pipili, the state government sent a veterinary team that collected samples and sent them for testing. The official said that after the report of the samples came positive, the government started killing chickens in the farm and area on Saturday.

20 thousand birds will be killed

Additional Director of Disease Control Jagannath Nanda said that 300 chickens were killed on Saturday, while more than 4,700 chickens were killed on Sunday. He said that a total of 20,000 birds will be killed in Pipili. Joint Director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Manoj Patnaik said that all the birds within a radius of one kilometer of the poultry farm will be killed and the farm will not be allowed to keep chickens for the next five months. He said that the farmers will be compensated as per the guidelines.
