The UK smartphone company Nothing is planning to launch the Phone 3a series on March 4, which will include Phone 3a and Phone 3a Pro. While the latter introduces new hardware, the former serves as a direct successor to the Nothing Phone 2a. The company decided to tease a new button seen on the Phone 3a Pro, which resembles the Action button seen on iPhones. A new leak reveals further details regarding this button.

“Essential Key” on the Nothing Phone 3a Pro

According to the tipster Shivam Kumar on Smartprix, the ‘Essential Key’ Essential Space will invoke Nothing’s custom AI functions. The report goes on to say that essential space will be different from standard power and volume buttons. Instead, it will serve as an additional voice memo alongside the previously mentioned functionalities, including social media saves and screenshots.

According to the report, a tap of the button will take a screenshot, whereas a long-press will start recording a voice note. In addition, Nothing could allow users to double tap to access the stored content in Essential Space. It is also said that the key comes with Integration with the Camera app, like the Camera Control button of iPhone 16 series.

Moreover, with the progressive rollout of updates, it is also believed that Nothing will integrate other key features into the Nothing Phone 3a series such as flip to record, smart collections and focused search.
