Pakistan's Toshakhana: Experts keeping track of Pakistan's politics have had the belief that the Toshakan scandal was the Tochakhana scandal was primary reason for Imran Khan’s increasing notoriety. This is where he started to go down in career. He was found guilty of corruption and was imprisoned. This controversy not only pulled the Imran’s political ground but also paved way for a great shift in the politics of Pakistan. The government has now decided to put an end of this issue once and for all. The highest authorities in the country have decided that the foremost officials will no longer be permitted to accept foreign gifts so that such controversies do not happen in the future.

In fact, as per the Sama TV report, a high level committee chaired by Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has proposed alterations in the rules of the Toshakana. Under these rules, Pakistan will now formally invite its allied countries to refrain from granting government level gifts to officials. Khawaja Asif stated that this decision will be officially enforced as soon as the Prime Minister’s approval is received. If however, a book or some other minor item is given, well that is a different story. But expensive gifts will be completely prohibited.

The Toshakhana Controversy has stirred up heated debates in Pakistan’s political theater. Considered to be one of the most petty cases, it, however, included renowned figures like Nawaz Sharif, Imran Khan, Zardari, and Gilani who misused public gifts at the Toshakhana. Imran Khan's case is especially interesting, as he was accused of pocketing millions over expensive gifts, which he received from his time in office. He is currently behind bars after being convicted for the offenses.
This is the only way to end it.
In the government's opinion, the most efficient method towards resolving the dispute is an outright ban on Toshakhana. Bluntly put. Khawaja Asif conveyed there would be no disputes or gifts given out, and therefore, no disputes becomes a possibility. Without a doubt, this serves the interest of Pakistani politics and governance as it eliminates chances of bias and corruption.
Toshakhana satchel controversy has seriously affected Pakistan’s politics. Imran Khan's political career has suffered the most from it. Consequently, he is imprisoned today; the government’s decision is also being viewed as an effort to whitewash the corruption during Imran’s time. While the opposition accuses the government of using it as a tactic, it is apparent now that issues such as Toshakhana will not emerge again in Pakistan.
