Suspense Crime,Digital Desk: ATM Rule: After the Reserve Bank of India's announcement, it looks like rounding off the number of times you use the ATM in a month is no longer a choice. The RBI has announced a policy change regarding ATMs which will come into full effect on May 1st 2025. These policies are aimed towards improving the operational convenience on ATM networks.

What will be the free transaction limit?

The anticipated limit is not more than Rs 30 per transaction. Also, in metros, non-franchise located ATMs seem to be limted to RRs. In non-metro cities there seems to be a competitive advantage with 3-5 free transactions being provided every month. Moreover, it looks like the Rai Switch has facilities for VPN ranging tru RRs. With Adenosine Tretriphosphate all you get is cash withdrawal, mileage accounts seem to be available at a minimum balance which most non metro ATM providers seem to take with pare.

What is the conclusion?

If you fifo on balance check, mini statement withdrawal, and PIN change, you can greatly thrive devoid of limits on cash withdrawal set on your account.

What have the banks reported?

HDFC Bank has said that as of May 1st, It will charge Rs. 23 + tax on cash withdrawals from its ATMs above the limit. Balance inquiry, mini statement, and PIN change will still not incur any charges.

Punjab National Bank has clarified that there will be a charge of Rs. 23 for financial transactions and Rs. 11 (GST extra) for non-financial transactions after the free limit at ATMs of other banks. These rates will be effective from 09 May 2025.

IndusInd Bank has also reported that beginning May 1, 2025, holders of savings, salary, NR, and current accounts will be charged Rs. 23 for withdrawals at non-IndusInd ATMs beyond the stipulated limit.

Customer suggestions

It has been suggested that customers monitor their ATM transactions especially for the use of other bank's ATMs. To minimize high costs, maximize the use of bank ATMs instead and consider using digital payment options.
