Nepal Earthquake News: The people of Nepal were deep in their sleep when the country was jolted by an earthquake. The saying ‘Nepal never sleeps’ was aided by the tremors which shook the ground 10km below Everest, right at its peak. The German Research Center for Geo Sciences reported that the tremors reached a magnitude of 5.5 and the damages that it has caused are still unknown.
Damage Reports Yet To Come
As reported by the National Institute of Earth Sciences of Nepal, an earthquake measuring 6.0 on the richter scale has hit 10km south of Solukhumbu district of Nepal at a depth of 10km around 5:05 am on a Friday. Reports suggest that the jolt was felt across eastern Kathmandu and clusters surrounding the Solukhumbu district. According to Solukhumbu's geospatial center, the epicenter of the earthquake was adjacent to Mount Everest, roughly 150 km to the east of Nepal's capital. The reported magnitude of the quake has been set at 5.5.
475 Is Just A Number
Due to lacking current damage reports, this has just been one of many hundreds of descending Nepal's echo quake cycles that have jolted the country since April of 2015. As the pretty little country thought it was safe from earthquakes, the claim was unproven as everyone living in and around Kathmandu felt the tremors spreading towards central and eastern Nepal.
Buildings and businesses trembled in Bihar
As per the reports, the impact of this earthquake in Solukhumbu district was felt in the bordering Indian state of Bihar too. This district of Nepal is situated 189 kilometers north of Muzaffarpur in Bihar so the houses there trembled as well. There was also the impact of this earthquake in the capital Patna. A 5.5 Richter scale earthquake is categorised as moderate. Yet, it has the potential to cause shifting of buildings, fissures in them, roads getting fractured, all these makes it uninhabitable.
