On Saturday, protestors across the United States will gather for more than 1,200 “Hands Off!” demonstrations. These events aim to challenge recent federal actions by President Donald Trump’s administration and tech entrepreneur Elon Musk, who leads the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency.

The protests are expected to take place in Washington, D.C., at state capitols, and in cities nationwide.

Organized by Over 150 Advocacy Groups

Over 150 organizations are behind the movement, including civil rights groups, labor unions, LGBTQ+ advocates, veterans' associations, and election integrity coalitions. Their shared goal is to oppose policies they claim are harmful to public services and civil rights.

Concerns Over Downsizing, Human Rights, and Healthcare

The protestors are opposing several government actions, including:

Mass layoffs of federal employees

Closure of Social Security field offices

Cuts to federal health program funding

Immigration enforcement escalations

Reduced protections for transgender individuals

Organizers argue these measures negatively impact millions of Americans, especially vulnerable populations.

Elon Musk’s Role Under Scrutiny

Elon Musk, an adviser to President Trump and head of Tesla, SpaceX, and the social platform X, now leads the Department of Government Efficiency. His efforts to streamline federal operations, he claims, are saving taxpayers billions. However, critics argue these moves are eliminating essential services.

Aiming for the Largest Protest Since Trump’s Return

While there have been several demonstrations since Trump resumed office in January, none have matched the scale of previous mass movements such as the 2017 Women's March or the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests.

Organizers hope Saturday’s events will mark a turning point and mobilize broad public support against the administration's current trajectory.

No Official Response Yet From the White House

The White House has not issued a response regarding the planned protests. President Trump continues to frame his administration’s policies as being beneficial to the American public.
