UK and US Tour Cancelled: MEA Denies Political Clearance to Telangana CM Revanth Reddy, Says CMO
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has hit a major roadblock in his foreign itinerary as the central government has refused to grant political clearance for his scheduled visit to the United States. According to an official statement released by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) denied the necessary permissions due to political considerations.
Cancellation of the US Leg
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who is currently on a visit to London, was originally scheduled to travel to the US next week before returning to Hyderabad at the end of the month. However, due to the lack of political clearance from the MEA, the official delegation for Telangana Rising has been forced to call off the American leg of the tour entirely.
Itinerary and UK Engagements
CM Revanth Reddy arrived in London to kick off his 10-day tour of the UK and the US. His engagements in the United Kingdom included high-profile visits and interactions:
A visit to the Blavatnik School of Government at Oxford University.
An English Premier League (EPL) football presentation at the Emirates Stadium.
Planned dialogues and academic sessions with the University of Cambridge, the University of London, and the London Business School.
What Was Planned for the US?
Had the tour proceeded as planned, the Telangana Chief Minister was scheduled to visit prominent academic institutions in the US, including Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He was also lined up to interact with a delegation from Virginia Tech University in Boston and attend a Pravasi Sammelan organised by the US chapter of the Indian Overseas Congress in New York. Prior to his departure, the Chief Minister had attended a meeting of the Congress Working Committee in New Delhi.
