PM Modi Chairs 53rd PRAGATI Meeting: Reviews ₹30,000 Crore Infrastructure Projects and Cybersecurity Concerns

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the 53rd edition of the PRAGATI (Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation) meeting in New Delhi, conducting a comprehensive review of six major infrastructure projects valued at over ₹30,000 crore spanning across nine states. Emphasizing the importance of timely execution, the Prime Minister highlighted that project delays not only inflate costs but also deprive citizens, industries, and the broader economy of essential developmental benefits.

Holistic Monitoring of Multi-Sector Infrastructure

The reviewed initiatives encompass critical sectors such as railways, roads, and power infrastructure. The Prime Minister underscored that large-scale infrastructure should never be viewed merely as isolated packages or segmented parts. Instead, ministries and state governments must adopt a holistic, end-to-end perspective during planning and execution to remove critical bottlenecks that could stall entire corridors.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister advocated for fostering a proactive administrative work culture and ensuring strict accountability at every tier of project implementation. He recommended developing shared utility corridors for diverse services during the planning stages of major transport networks to optimize efficiency.

Tackling Cyber Fraud and 'Digital Arrest' Scams

Beyond infrastructure reviews, the PRAGATI platform session addressed pressing public safety concerns, specifically focusing on rising cyber frauds and "digital arrest" scams.

Targeted Public Awareness: PM Modi stressed the necessity of sustained, aggressive public awareness campaigns tailored for vulnerable groups, including senior citizens and youth, to educate them on identifying red flags and navigating digital platforms securely.

Capacity Building: He called for continuous training and capacity-building programs for law enforcement and administrative personnel to detect evolving methods of cybercrime and execute swift preventive actions.

Harnessing Artificial Intelligence and AgriStack

During the review of the Digital Agriculture Mission's 'AgriStack' initiative, the Prime Minister emphasized integrating cutting-edge technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) to maximize the utility of agricultural databases. He noted that comprehensive agricultural data should streamline every stage of the farming lifecycle—from anticipating seed and fertilizer requirements to optimizing agricultural produce processing—thereby empowering stakeholders to make informed, data-driven decisions.
