Sources privy to the development said Tuesday the list submitted to EC comprises details of the party’s organisational structure till June 20, 2026 and brings the organisational hierarchy on record of the EC after the claim for party’s control surfaced.
Whose names are there in the list?
As per the list submitted to EC, Mamata Banerjee will serve as the president of All India Trinamool Congress, with Subrata Bakshi as vice president, and Abhishek Banerjee as the national general secretary (Lok Sabha leader).
Other prominent names in the party’s list of office bearers include Derek O’Brien (Rajya Sabha MP) and Dola Sen as joint secretaries and Subhasis Chakraborty as treasurer. The National Working Committee comprises of Mamata Banerjee, Subrata Bakshi, Abhishek Banerjee, Derek O’Brien, Dola Sen and Subhashish Chakraborty. Also in the working committee are Chandrima Bhattacharyya, Amit Mitra, Rajesh Pati Tripathi, Asima Patra, Moloy Ghatak, Gautam Deb, Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay, Bulu Chik Baraik, Mukul Sangma, Baiswanor Chattopadhyay, Birbaha Hansda, Kalyan Banerjee, Saugata Roy, Nadimul Haque, Madan Mitra, Biman Banerjee, Mahua Moitra and Kunal Ghosh. Among the listed office bearers, Chandrima Bhattacharya has also been declared member National Working Committee and West Bengal TMC president, while Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay will be Member and leader in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly.
Rebel group had named Arup Roy as its president.
The notification of the submission of the list to Election Commission was sent on a day when rebel TMC faction convened a special session in Kolkata and formed its alternative set of office bearers, naming a veteran MLA Arup Roy as the party president, directly challenging the authority of Mamata Banerjee and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee. Citing a “constitutional crisis” in the party, Leader of the Opposition Ritabrata Banerjee had then said the term for the earlier formed National Working Committee had expired in February 2022. They also had said they called for a special meeting of the party and elected new working committee members and appointed office bearers with intimation to EC.
Mamata’s faction had later dismissed the claims of the rebels as “absurd”. Kunal Ghosh, the Senior Leader of TMC, said the leaders of the rival camp did not have the right to call such a meeting. “These people have been in the opposition all their life, now have they been a part of the party?
There have been instances of MP and MLA rebel in the party,” Ghosh had earlier stated.
