Monsoon Fury: Heavy Rain Warning Issued for 19 States Including UP and Bihar, Delhi-NCR Sows in Humid Heat
The active monsoon trough and low-pressure systems over the Bay of Bengal have triggered intense weather conditions across multiple regions of the country. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a comprehensive weather warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms spanning 19 states. While several states brace for continuous downpours, flash floods, and potential landslides, the National Capital Region of Delhi and its surrounding areas are currently battling oppressive, humid heat before anticipated spells of relief.
Delhi-NCR Weather: Sweltering Humidity and Expected Showers
Residents of Delhi-NCR woke up to a sultry and humid morning, with persistent moisture levels causing discomfort over the past several days. However, the weather office has placed the region on alert for scattered to moderate rainfall accompanied by gusty winds and thunder. Meteorological predictions indicate that Delhi's maximum temperature will hover around 34 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will settle near 28 degrees Celsius. Similar humid conditions with localized rain spells are expected across neighboring urban hubs including Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, and various parts of Haryana.
Uttar Pradesh and Bihar on High Alert for Heavy Downpours

Extreme Weather across West Bengal, Northeast, and Himalayan States
Heavy meteorological disruptions are not limited to the plains. Gangetic West Bengal is bracing for extremely heavy downpours, alongside significant rainfall activity anticipated in Sikkim. In India's northeastern corridor, isolated places across Assam and Meghalaya are slated for heavy to very heavy precipitation throughout the week, while Arunachal Pradesh will witness steady showers. Furthermore, hill states like Himachal Pradesh are under a heightened weather alert for August 17 and 18, with authorities warning citizens and travelers about an increased risk of landslides and localized blockades across the western Himalayan region.
