Post

Suspense Crime, Digital Desk : Tehran sent its delegation under the name “Minab 168” to Switzerland to take part in the US and Iran peace talks on Sunday. Tehran’s delegation was given the name to honor 168 schoolgirls who died in a US-Israeli Tomahawk missile attack on the school that took place on February 28, the day the war began.

The Pakistani counterpart met the Tehran’s delegates to continue implementing the MoU signed last week.

For the execution and verification mechanisms for the recently inked MoU, which is named “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding” and electronically signed last week by the US President Donald Trump, Iranian president Masoud Pezeshkian and Pakistani premier Shahbaz Sharif, both Washington and Tehran may carry out another meeting, sources quoted by Reuters said, as they plan to set out for talks again for a full day. "This MoU will not be signed in face to face negotiations," Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said in a briefing with the press. He went on to add that negotiations on implementation of the MoU will be discussed along with the Follow-up mechanism of MoU with the participation of mediators at talks scheduled to be held one day in Geneva on a wide array of issues and the Iranian president's entourage in Switzerland will consist of Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Ali Bagheri Kani and Central Bank governor Abdolnaser Hemmati. The visiting US delegation includes Vice President Vance, special envoy for Iran and as adviser to the president, Steve Wittkoff and Jared Kushner.

He added that "US President Trump want a "fresh start", not "change of government".

As per the New York Times reports, US VP said, "Good progress on Iran." The US VP said he expects the negotiations with the Iranian leaders to last at most two days and that these would include discussions about the nuclear program and a cease-fire in Lebanon. "We both are in position to look forward to a future where the US and Iran could work together for peace and security in the region and prosperity," he said.

Secretary of State Mike Rubio, the vice president explained, and his delegation are actively engaged in helping the parties craft a comprehensive cease-fire in Lebanon. "The broader objective is the restored stability in the region," Vance added. In an interview with the ANI news agency, Iran’s president Masoud Pezeshkian was quoted saying that according to an initial agreement with the United States, Iran would be able to recover 6 billion USD of assets held in Qatar.

Tasnim said that Pezeshkian claimed all points mentioned in the Memorandum of understanding (MoU) will favor Iran and stressed the result of the talks will soon be evident.

"The very conditions President Trump wanted us to reduce are currently listed as part of the right of the Iranian people," the Iranian president asserted, reiterating that Iran's principal concern in the nuclear program is that it not be developed to weapons capacity: "The US wants us only not to develop nuclear weapons, because our martyredSupremeLeader already said, 'we don't want nuclear weapons'".
