Mamata Banerjee's appeal challenging the Bhawanipur result in the Calcutta High Court

Suspense Crime, Digital Desk : Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday filed an election petition in Calcutta High Court, challenging the election result of Bhawanipur assembly seat, where she lost to BJP's Suvendu Adhikari.

Adhikari had defeated Banerjee in her own constituency by a margin of 15,105 votes. TMC sources said Banerjee reached the High Court registry for verification of the election result challenging petition. She was accompanied by TMC leaders Kunal Ghosh and Dola Sen.

Judicial review sought'

She has submitted an affidavit of vote counting malpractices. Banerjee's election petition asked for a judicial review of Bhawanipur result but grounds on which the result is being contested are not revealed at present.

He had approached court after his defeat even at Nandigram.

The vote counting for the West Bengal Assembly election began on May 4 and after winning a landslide victory in the West Bengal Assembly election, the result of the state elected Adhikari as the first Chief Minister of the state of BJP. Interestingly, Mamata Banerjee had also moved the court after her defeat against Shuvendu in Nandigram in 2021 and this plea is yet to be concluded.
