Suspense Crime, Digital Desk : The rules of Indian Railways have been changed from July 1, for travelling ticketless there will be a double fine. Travelling on ticket booked in someone's name also becomes more expensive, while men entering the ladies compartment and others creating disturbance will have to pay a heavy fine.

Officials say that all these changes have been brought under the Public Trust Act. If anyone found to be drinking or behaving abnormally, will have to clean the compartment, moreover if guilty, there could be an option of 24 hours imprisonment and a fine of one thousand rupees.

Doubled fine for ticketless passenger

A ticketless traveler is currently charged Rs 250 fine with full fare. Now this amount has been increased to Rs 500. The government says that there was no change in fines from 2013, this fine was increased from Rs 50 to Rs 250 in 2013 and a period of 13 years have passed since then.

Also, if someone travelling on a ticket issued on the name of another person, they will confiscate ticket, charge full rent along with a penalty of Rs 500. The officials also say that in non-payment of this amount, the matter will go to the court, where you can also get imprisonment in addition to the amount of fine.

A letter has been issued by the Railway Board to all zonal railways to communicate these rules to all the employees of their respective departments. Apart from this, stringent steps will also be taken against those operating hawkers and other shops, or beggars without licence. In such cases, a fine of up to Rs two thousand will be charged, in case the fine is not paid in due time, an offender may also be sent to jail.

Strict steps will also be taken against those creating noise or disruption in alcohol condition inside and outside trains and stations or harassing passengers and abusing them or behaving obscenely with them or any woman.

The penalty for breaking rules will be this:

• Travelling without ticket: 500 + fare.
• Travelling in another person's ticket: 500 + fare.
• Licence holders can also be fined for selling without licence: 2,000
• Entry in coach reserved for women: 2,500
• Bringing prohibited goods: Rs 10,000 or loss compensation.
• Entry in railway station or train without permission: 500.
• While intoxicated, if creates nuisance and disturbs other passengers: will get 24 hours jail or 1000 rupees fine or community service.
• If behaviour becomes obnoxious, insulting or harassing toward women and fellow passengers: Rs 1000 fine or 6 months imprisonment.
